avannah, Georgia had a great writer in Flannery O'Connor. Paris, France made the likes of Ernest Hemmingway and Gertrude Stein. One of the finest writers of Biographies on the web is Ellen Cotton. Ellen's work has been noted many places. Her latest work is on Gertrude Stein. I would strongly suggest you give it a viewing, especially if you love Paris in the thirties! And in her Ellen's Place one finds biographies of Marilyn Monroe and Georgia O'Keefe among others. Well worth a visit.

Well, I just found your site... amazing I hadn't found it before
with all the travel surfing I do, but I was surfing for my own links, found
American Borders, thanks for the mention. Just returned from China, rode a Chang Jiang sidecar bike from Beijing to the Tibetan border and back, by myself, which was a big mistake... got very lonely in China, unlike in Africa, where I also traveled alone (by bicycle, long ago), the people were pretty cold, with a few notable exceptions. I sent dispatches home a couple of times a week (their phone system there is awesome!) the site is at

By the way, after a long vacation in my dad's garage, the Ural is
